SHOCKING: Black Seed Fighting COVID-19 Shows Promising Signs in Stage 3 Study

Some think it’s folk medicine. Others swear by it.
In the Middle East they call it Habbatal Baraka, the blessed seed. Or Habbat Assawda, black seed.
Around the world there are over 50 different names for it.
Black seed, as it’s commonly known in the U.S., has a bitter taste. Throughout the Middle East, Asia and Africa black seed is used in food and drinks. In Turkey the seeds are used in many bread and cookie recipes.
What it’s known by in the US is black seed or black “cumin” seed. In reality black cumin seed is not actually in the same family as the traditional cumin we use in the kitchen here in the states.
It’s scientific name is Nigella Sativa (NS).
Nigella Sativa belongs to the plant family of Ranunculaceae, genus; Nigella, species.
Many times it’s combined with honey or olive oil as a way to treaty respiratory tract infections.
In fact a recent study that combines black seed oil, honey and results were SHOCKING.
To evaluate the effectiveness of Nigella Sativa (1gm seed powder in a capsule orally) and 30ml of honey stirred in 250ml of distilled water every 12 hours until the patient becomes asymptomatic.
Or a maximum of 14 days with standard hospital care vs standard hospital care alone with placebo capsule and 250ml water, in clearing the COVID-19 nucleic acid from throat and nasal swab, lowering disease detrimental effects on HRCT chest/X-ray and severity of symptoms along with duration of hospital stay till day 14th day of follow up and 30 days mortality (primary outcomes).

The study was designed to demonstrate the superiority of a combination of black cumin with honey over standard care in SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19) infected patients.

Investigators will follow up with participants every 4th day to access clinically the severity of symptoms along with RT-PCR and HRCT chest or X-ray to access the disease progression. Those positive on 8th day will be followed up further for monitoring of primary end points.
Findings of this trial are expected to help establishing a new remedy for the treatment of this pandemic giving mortality benefit along with earlier decrease in viral load and lesser complications rate caused by SARS-Cov-2 virus.

Herbal Remedies For Fighting Coronavirus

Herbal remedies have been used as folk medicine to treat many diseases. Some herb extracts were shown to inhibit virus replication [, ].

Let’s have a look at those kill mechanisms, with the help of our army of cuprous oxide warriors.

Ns extract has antiviral, antitumor and antimicrobial activities [].

Ns extract oil contains thymoquinone (27.8–57.0 %), ρ-simen (7.1–15.5  %), karvakrol (5.8–11.6 %), t-anetol (0.25–2.3 %), 4-terpineol (2.0–6.6 %) and longifoline (1.0–8.0 %) [, ]. It has been revealed that thymoquinone is an active in NS extract [].

The results presented here suggest that treatment of cells with Ns, Ah or Cs extracts prior to infection with CoV decreases the replication of the virus.

IL-8 secretion was increased at 24 h for Ns and Ah extract treatments but Cs treatment did not show a significant increase in IL-8 secretion at 24 h.

However, IL-8 secretion was very low at early time points after infection (Fig. 3). Therefore it is not known if IL-8 levels are related to a decreased virus load.

Following gene expression analysis the TRP genes with changed expression levels were identified as follows: TRPM6 and TRPA1 were the two genes that were down regulated for both 6 and 8 h time points in CoV infected and extract treated cells, TRPC4 gene was down regulated following Ns and Ah treatments for both 6 and 8 h time points, TRPM7 was down regulated only after Ns treatment for the two time points, TRPV4 gene was down regulated following Ah treatment for the two time points and TRPM8 was down regulated following Cs treatment for the two time points.

A general down regulation trend for TRP genes was observed in the CoV infected and extract treated cells. Together with the data showing that virus loads were decreased upon extract treatments we predicted that TRP genes might be involved in CoV survival inside cells. Considering that replication of other viruses were related to intracellular calcium concentration and TRPs modulate ion concentrations, including calcium we measured intracellular calcium concentrations and found that they increased following plant extract treatments of infected cells. The controversial TRP gene expression and calcium concentration results suggest that they may not be related to decreased viral loads in plant extract treated infected cells or decreased TRP gene expression and/or increased calcium concentration decrease viral loads through unknown mechanisms. Undetectable levels of the virus after Ah treatment can mean a specific factor being involved following that treatment and this factor can be the TRPV4 gene, whose expression went down only in the case of Ah treatment for both 6 and 8 h time points. Currently there is no literature tying TRP genes to viral survival.

The reason for decreased virus loads following extract treatments is not known at this point. Further research is required in order to identify the specific ingredient(s) in the extracts that led to this phenotype and also to identify the mechanism by which it prevents virus replication or leads to more efficient virus killing. Undetectable virus loads after Ah extract treatment can mean future research can identify certain molecule(s) in Ah extract that can be used as highly effective drugs against not only CoV but also other viruses as well.

According to the respected, reliable, and prestigious US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health, the answer is a resounding “YES.” They published a study, dated January 12, 2014, illustrating and explaining how Nigella Sativa stopped the replication of a coronavirus.

THE STUDY

The study was conducted on specific cells after they were infected with a coronavirus.

Scientists used extracts from three natural substances to see how each acted when they were individually added to the coronavirus infected cells.

The three substances were:

  • Anthemis hyalina (Ah)- a chamomile plant herb
  • Citrus Sinensis (Cs) – a herb, also known as sweet orange.
  • Nigella Sativa (Ns)- black cumin plant

The results of the study were as follows:

Anthemis hyalina was the better of the three at stopping the replication of the coronavirus, but right there in second place was Nigella Sativa, which also prevented the replication of the virus.

In conclusion, the scientific research study stated, in part, the following:

results presented here suggest that treatment of cells with Ns, Ah, or Cs extracts prior to infection with CoV decreases the replication of the virus.

The words are clear, “they decreased the replication of the virus.

CAN NIGELLA SATIVA WORK AGAINST COVID-19?

Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa) Can Kill The Coronavirus

In other words, just because it stopped the replication in a different coronavirus in the above-mentioned study in 2014, can it possibly help fight the replication of COVID-19?

Direct Evidence

Let me put it this way; people are starting to come out and publicly state that black seed oil has helped them recover after they got infected with the COVID-19.

Rapper Style P publicly stated on March 24, 2020, that he believes that he had the coronavirus and almost died. He healed himself with black seed oil.

So what are these five kill mechanisms?
